Terms of Use
Last Updated: May 22, 2026
Welcome to Storyboon
Storyboon is operated by Sahtu Press (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By accessing or using Storyboon, you agree to these Terms of Use. Storyboon is a story development platform for visual storytellers working on picture books, comics, and screenplays.
1. Age Requirements
You must be at least 13 years old to use Storyboon. If you are under 18, you need permission from a parent or guardian to create an account. This age requirement is set to comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar laws.
2. Your Account
You are responsible for keeping your account information accurate and for protecting access to the email account used for passwordless authentication. Don’t share your account with others. You are responsible for all activity that takes place under your account, and you should notify us immediately at support@storyboon.com if you suspect any unauthorized access.
3. The Service
Storyboon provides Pala guidance and structural editing feedback for visual storytelling formats, format-specific editors for picture books, comics, and screenplays, and project management features that keep your stories organized within your account.
The service is provided for personal learning and story development. You may use all features for your own creative work. You may not copy or redistribute platform materials, content, or code. We may update, change, or remove features at any time, and we will provide reasonable notice of significant changes that affect paid features.
4. Pricing and Payments
Storyboon offers three ways to use the platform.
The free Studio plan gives you one project with unlimited stories and 10 starter Boon Inks for Pala guidance. Additional Boon Inks can be purchased anytime. There is no time limit on the free plan.
Boon Ink is a pay-per-use top-up system. You can purchase bundles ranging from $5 to $18 for more Pala interactions. Boon Inks do not expire.
Studio+ is a paid subscription that costs $9 per month, or $79 per year if you pay annually (a 27% saving). It includes unlimited projects and unlimited Pala interactions. Studio+ subscriptions auto-renew until you cancel, and you can cancel at any time through your account settings. Reasonable fair-use limits apply to Pala interactions to prevent abuse.
Payment is processed securely by Stripe. All pricing includes applicable taxes. Subscription charges are processed automatically each billing period. One-time Boon Ink purchases are charged immediately at the time of purchase.
5. Refund Policy
Studio+ subscriptions are not refunded for partial billing periods. You can cancel at any time through your account settings to stop future charges. Boon Inks are non-refundable once purchased, since they do not expire and remain available in your account indefinitely. To request a refund, email support@storyboon.com with your account email and the reason for the request. We process valid refunds within 5 to 10 business days. Free Studio access remains available regardless of refund status.
6. Pala Technology
Pala uses Anthropic’s Claude API to read passages of your story and respond with structural editing guidance. When you ask Pala a question, the relevant text is transmitted securely to Anthropic for processing. Pala considers narrative elements such as character, conflict, structure, pacing, and other editorial factors, and returns one observation paired with one craft technique. You review the guidance and implement changes at your discretion. Pala does not write prose into your manuscript. Your original story and any revisions you make remain your intellectual property.
Separately, the project kickstart step uses Google’s Gemini API to extract characters, world facts, and plot elements from the seed text you submit. No further Pala guidance is generated by Gemini.
We may change Pala or kickstart providers in the future. If we do, we will update this section of the Terms with reasonable notice.
Your story content is processed by Anthropic (Pala) and Google (kickstart) solely for the purpose of providing the service you requested. Your stories are transmitted via encrypted connection and are not stored by either provider beyond the time required for processing. Your stories are not used to train or improve any language models. Your stories are not shared with third parties except as required for the processing described in this section. Your stories remain in your private Storyboon account, under your control.
You retain all rights, title, and interest in your original story manuscripts and any revisions you make. Storyboon claims no ownership or rights to your creative work. Pala observations and suggestions are guidance (similar in nature to feedback from an editor) and do not create any intellectual property rights for Storyboon. You are the sole author and copyright holder of your work.
7. Your Stories and Content
You retain ownership of all stories and content you create on Storyboon. You grant us a limited license to display your content within the platform so that you can continue working on it across sessions and devices. We may feature exemplary work as educational examples, but only with your prior permission. You can delete your content at any time, and deletion of your account will remove your stories from active systems within a reasonable period. Project progress and Pala data may be used in aggregated, anonymized form to improve the platform. Deleted content may remain in backups for a limited period for technical and recovery reasons.
8. Platform Guidelines
Use Storyboon responsibly. Use language appropriate for general audiences, including the children’s-fiction context many of our users work in. Don’t harass or abuse our systems. Respect other people’s privacy and creative work. Report inappropriate content or behavior to support@storyboon.com.

We cannot guarantee absolute security against every possible threat, but we work to maintain industry-standard protection.
11. Changes to Service
We may update features or change pricing. We may also modify or discontinue parts of the service. We will provide reasonable notice of significant changes that affect paid features or your stored content.
12. Termination

We are not responsible for content lost due to user error, account deletion, or technical failure beyond our reasonable control. We are not responsible for the contents of third-party websites linked from Storyboon. Educational and analytical guidance is provided for learning purposes; your creative and editorial decisions are your own.
