Our terms of use and service agreements for Storyboon's professional story editing platform.

Welcome to Storyboon

Storyboon is operated by Sahtu Press ("we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using Storyboon, you agree to these Terms of Service. Our platform helps visual storytellers develop picture books, comics, and screenplays with professional story structure tools and AI-powered guidance.

1. Age Requirements

You must be at least 13 years old to use storyboon. If you are under 18, you need parent/guardian permission. This age requirement complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

2. Your Account

  • Keep your account information accurate and current
  • Protect access to your email account (used for passwordless authentication)
  • Don't share your account with others
  • You're responsible for all activity under your account
  • Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access

3. Pricing and Payments

We offer the following pricing options:

Free Tools

  • Story Analysis, Character Builder, World Builder, Plot Doctor, Style Editor, Dialogue Editor, Rhythm Check, and other diagnostic tools
  • 1 free tool result per week
  • Additional results available with Boon Ink credits or Studio subscription

Boon Ink Credits (Pay-Per-Use)

  • Purchase credits to use tools beyond weekly free limit
  • Credit packages available from $5-$18
  • Credits never expire

Storyboon Studio Subscription

  • Monthly: $9/month
  • Annual: $79/year (save 26%)
  • Includes unlimited tool usage, project management, and format-specific editors
  • Auto-renews until cancelled
  • Cancel anytime through account settings

Payment Terms:

  • We use Stripe for secure payment processing
  • All pricing includes applicable taxes
  • Subscription charges processed automatically each billing period
  • One-time purchases charged immediately

4. Refund Policy

  • Studio Subscriptions: No refunds for partial billing periods; cancel anytime to stop future charges
  • Boon Ink Credits: Non-refundable once purchased (credits never expire)
  • Contact support@storyboon.com for refund requests
  • Include your account email and reason for refund
  • We process valid refunds within 5-10 business days
  • Free tools remain accessible regardless of refund status

5. Studio and Tools

Our platform includes:

  • Story analysis and diagnostic tools (Story Analysis, Structure Analysis, Character Builder, World Builder, Plot Doctor, Style Editor, Dialogue Editor, Rhythm Check)
  • Format-specific editors for picture books, comics, and screenplays
  • Project management and story universe organization
  • AI-powered guidance via Pala guides (Janida & Janmani)

Usage Rights:

  • Content is for personal learning and story development only
  • Don't copy or redistribute our platform materials
  • You may use all tools for your own creative work
  • We may update or remove features anytime

6. AI Technology and Service Description

Storyboon uses artificial intelligence technology (Google Gemini API) to analyze story manuscripts and provide structural editing guidance. When you submit a story:

  • Your text is transmitted securely to Google's Gemini API for processing
  • The AI analyzes narrative elements including character, conflict, structure, pacing, and other editorial factors
  • Analysis results are returned to you as suggestions and guidance
  • You review suggestions and implement changes at your discretion
  • Your original story and any revisions remain your intellectual property

Data Processing and Privacy:

  • Your story content is processed by Google Gemini solely for the purpose of generating your personal story analysis
  • Your stories are transmitted via encrypted connection and are not stored by Google beyond processing duration
  • Your stories are not used to train or improve AI models
  • Your stories are not shared with third parties except as required for processing
  • Your stories remain in your private Storyboon account under your control

Intellectual Property Rights:

  • You retain all rights, title, and interest in your original story manuscripts and all revisions you make
  • Storyboon claims no ownership or rights to your creative work
  • The analysis and suggestions we provide are tool outputs, similar to grammar checking, and do not create any intellectual property rights for Storyboon
  • You are the sole author and copyright holder of your work

7. Your Stories and Content

When you create stories or content on Storyboon:

  • You keep ownership of your stories and studio content
  • You grant us limited rights to display your content within the platform
  • We may feature exemplary work as educational examples
  • You can delete your content anytime
  • Community feedback and Boon transactions are part of the platform
  • Project progress and analysis data helps improve our system
  • Deleted content may remain in backups for technical reasons

8. Platform Guidelines

Use our platform responsibly:

  • Use appropriate language suitable for all ages
  • Don't harass or abuse our systems
  • Respect others' privacy and creative work
  • Keep content family-friendly and appropriate for children's stories
  • Report inappropriate content or behavior

9. Prohibited Content

Don't post content that is:

  • Illegal or promotes illegal activities
  • Harassing, hateful, or discriminatory
  • Spam, scams, or misleading
  • Violates others' intellectual property
  • Explicit or inappropriate
  • Malware or harmful code

10. Privacy and Data

  • We collect data to improve your experience
  • You can request your data
  • We use cookies and similar technologies
  • We protect your information but can't guarantee security

11. Changes to Service

We may:

  • Update features or content
  • Change pricing
  • Modify or discontinue services
  • We'll notify you of significant changes

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that:

  • Violate these terms
  • Abuse the service
  • Engage in harmful behavior
  • Haven't been used for 12 months

13. Intellectual Property

  • Our content is protected by copyright
  • Our name and logo are trademarks
  • You keep rights to your original stories
  • Don't use our brand without permission
  • Report copyright violations

  • Service provided "as is"
  • No guarantee of uninterrupted service
  • Not responsible for lost content
